COVID-19 vaccine injury analysis

According to VAERS, it is possible that the COVID-19 vaccines have caused more injury than any other vaccine in history.

As of today, VAERS has 960,633 total reports. VAERS data goes back 31 years to 1990. In less than six months, COVID-19 vaccines make up 27.6% of all reports.

Pfizer injuries

COVID-19 (PFIZER-BIONTECH) has been associated with injuries from 2020 to 2021. There are 105,367 total reports, including 9,532 serious injuries* and 2,005 deaths.

On average, across 4,362 different lots, our analysis found:

  • 11 reported ER visit for every 174 lots
  • 1 reported death for every 2 lots
  • 1 reported disability for every 3 lots
  • 2 reported hospitalizations per lot, with an average stay of 4 days
  • 1 reported life threatening illness for every 2 lots

Moderna injuries

COVID-19 (MODERNA) has been associated with injuries from 2020 to 2021. There are 123,718 total reports, including 7,562 serious injuries* and 2,183 deaths.

On average, across 6,640 different lots, our analysis found:

  • 1 reported ER visit for every 443 lots
  • 1 reported death for every 3 lots
  • 1 reported disability for every 6 lots
  • 1 reported hospitalization per lot, with an average stay of 4 days
  • 1 reported life threatening illness for every 4 lots

J&J injuries

COVID-19 (JANSSEN) has been associated with injuries from 2021 to 2021. There are 35,126 total reports, including 2,028 serious injuries* and 351 deaths.

On average, across 1,398 different lots, our analysis found:

  • Not enough data to determine stats about ER visit
  • 1 reported death for every 4 lots
  • 1 reported disability for every 4 lots
  • 1 reported hospitalization per lot, with an average stay of 5 days
  • 1 reported life threatening illness for every 2 lots

Discussion

The COVID-19 vaccine death and disability rates are very high relative to other vaccines. For example, HAVRIX (Hepatitis A) vaccine injury reports from 1995 to 2021 show high ER visit rates, with death and disability not nearly as common:

  • 2 reported ER visits per lot
  • 1 reported death for every 65 lots
  • 1 reported disability for every 17 lots

I highly recommend sharing this analysis with friends, family and your doctor. (Do you need a better, vaccine-choice friendly doctor?)

Analysis notes

This analysis is done from VaxCalc using our Vaccine Injury Search Engine tool. It literally takes less than a minute to do it for any vaccine. You can also search by vaccine lot number.

We analyze vaccine injuries by average per lot across multiple years because according to the FDA, different lots of complex chemically-treated biological products are unlikely to be the same.

*Serious injuries are defined as hospitalizations, life threatening illnesses or disabilities. ER visits alone are not considered serious.

  1. Thank you for helping us s to be fully informed! It’s great that you are looking for trends with individual vaccines and also individual lots. Hopefully this translates into a safer vaccine experience for those considering a Covid vaccine. Is there a system of reporting problematic lots? I know we have seen clusters of injury coming out of large vaccination events where they shut down mid day once it was recognized.

  2. Does this information also include the V-Safe reports many of us filled out for any after effects, such as ‘covid arm’ , temporary chills, fever, temporary tingling, etc.? I would not consider these injuries, as they passed and all seems well. I do agree, however, that these stats seem abnormally high, and I do support choice in the matter of any vaccination.

  3. What is a “lot?” And do I take this to say jandj has better stats/least amount of injuries or more?

    1. Hi Holly,

This page from the FDA explains what a lot is: https://www.fda.gov/vaccines-blood-biologics/biologics-post-market-activities/lot-release

In a way, think of a lot similar to if you baked cookies three different times. Each time, you’d label the cookie container with a unique number so that you could trace back the cookie to a specific set of ingredients that you kept track of. If there was a recall on any of those ingredients, you would know which cookies to recall.

Good question about J&J. I would hold off on drawing conclusions about J&J until the reports reach 100,000. J&J was already paused (pulled from the market) once. J&J came into the market late, that’s why their total report numbers are smaller.
